W: Hi, Bob. Have you checked our class schedule to see when we’ll need the running shoes?
M: We don’t have PE classes on Monday or Wednesday, but on Friday there will be one.
W: I should write a paper titled Communication with Parents. But I have no idea for it.
M: Why not go to the public library now? It is not far away from your house.
W: It is not open today, but I have to hand in my paper tomorrow.
W: How are you feeling, Mike? I saw your father buy medicines in the clinic yesterday.
M: Not for me. It’s for Lily. But I feel tired because I just had a long walk.
M: I should start a new diet.
W: You can try out the one that I do.
M: Tell me about it. I need to do something right away. You know, my sister’s getting married. Even the suit in the biggest size for the wedding doesn’t fit me.
M: Joan, I didn’t see your homework. Did you forget to do it?
W: Sorry, Mr Black. I didn’t feel all right last night and I went to sleep early.
M: Oh, no wonder you look pale. You should see a doctor after class.

W: Do you mind preparing things that are needed for going cycling?
M: Of course not.
W: Is it going to clear up tomorrow?
M: I have checked the weather report. It says it will be cloudy, but there will be no rain.
W: Just take two raincoats in case it rains.
M: OK. And I won’t forget to take enough water and food.
W: Yes, or else we will starve and thirst and have no strength to cycle halfway.
听下面一段对话,回答第8至第10三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
W: Good afternoon, sir! Welcome to Beijing. I’m from the Spring Travel Agency and will show you around interesting places while you are here. How is your flight?
M: Not too bad. I just feel a bit tired. Shall we go to the hotel right now?
W: Yeah. It’s just about two kilometers from here.
M: That’s good. It’s so hot that the sweat is pouring off me, so I’d like to get cleaned up as soon as possible.
W: OK, this way, please. The car is just outside. Let me help you with your backpack.
M: Thank you. By the way, what’s the plan for my trip tomorrow morning?
W: We are going to visit the Palace Museum.
M: Great. I’ve been looking forward to seeing the great wonder.
听下面一段对话,回答第11至第13三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
W: Have you ever taken Dr Anderson’s classes?
M: Yes. Are you in his class?
W: No, but I’m taking his classes next term.
M: He is very serious and patient. He knows well what you need to learn to get a good grade. But he is very strict about homework.
W: Yes...
M: What I like most about him is that he always understands others. Do you enjoy that in a teacher?
W: Yes, I had such a teacher before.
M: Did you know that he came to teach in England last year after 10 years of teaching in America, and that before teaching in America he worked in Spain?
W: No, I didn’t, but I think that could be a good thing.
M: Well, consider everything and work out what is best for you. Good luck!
听下面一段对话,回答第14至第17四个小题。现在你有20秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。
M: Our company’s sales exhibition in the park has won a great victory this year. We have to find a meeting room and a dining area to celebrate that. Do you have any ideas?
W: We could hold it at a hotel as we did last year, or we can try the conference center.
M: The company has grown so much in the past year. I don’t think the hotel can hold all of us now. The conference center sounds like a better option.
W: The advantage of the hotel is that it has helpful waitstaff for the dinner, which can save us a lot of trouble.
M: Yes, but the large conference center offers us greater freedom of choice. It will allow us to use the space the way we want.
W: But the hotel’s meeting rooms have modern equipment. I’m not sure if that’s available at the conference center.
M: All right. I think we should go to visit both and then we can book one after we’ve met with the event managers. Agreed?
W: Agreed.
听下面一段独白,回答第18至第20三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
A new report said sleeping with the light on could be bad for our health. Researchers found turning off the light when we sleep helps to keep away from high blood sugar levels and heart disease. The researchers said around 40 percent of people sleep with some sort of artificial light. They added that the worst thing to sleep with is the main light. Sleeping in the dark is more difficult for people who live in cities, because in cities there is a lot of outdoor light at night. Researcher Dr Phyllis Zee said it is healthier for us to turn off all lights when we sleep. Her team conducted a study of the blood sugar levels of 20 people after nights of sleep. The people who slept with a light on had higher blood sugar levels the next morning, compared to those who slept in total darkness. Dr Zee said this is because light contributes to brain activity, which raises blood sugar levels. She said there are three things we can do to reduce the risk of illness: turn off the lights, never sleep with white or blue light, and use a blackout curtain or wear an eye mask.
